ECD Program Implentation and Advocacy in Mozambique

Training interested ECD intervenient in Mozambique and covered almost 300 people during 4 years. The training has objectives on expanding and improve knowledge of the Mozambican ECD players. As results, the ECD approaches have expanded to different places in the Country reaching more targeting children improving development milestones and increase number of the children targeting by ECD approaches in Mozambique. In general terms, in Mozambique I am playing a role as SECD facilitator to different ECD intervenient people. In addition, I have worked to Save the Children, PATH, and promote technical support to the local organisations on ECD matters. During the years of 2007 where I joined as ECD player in Mozambique I piloted Preschool intervention in Mozambique through American Idol funds, this project was evalueted by World Bank and the results contributed to the Country won $40 million to implement the ECD pilot project in Mozambique targeting children from 3-5 years and other using parenting education. In addition, I have promoted Advocacy to the Ministry of Health on introducing ECD to the health system where currently ECD is part of different health programs systems such as Maternal and Child Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, HIV, Child Consultation in Risk, Maternity. In addition, during my career I supported Ministry of Education in Mozambique to design first ECD National Strategy and that contributed to the Ministry of Education having ECD department. As ECD player I have invited to conduct lectures to the Mozambican Universities, such as UEM and Pedagogical University with the purpose to share practical interventions on ECD matters. At the end, I am part of the ECD Network in Mozambique promoting Advocacy to the Government on investing in ECD since early on value the 1000 days of the life. At the end, I am recognized professional in Mozambique focused on ECD matters using integrated approaches.
